Sawyer Pinkham went the distance in the loss (6R, 5K, 2B, 5H). Connor Provost collected the win (4H, 9K, 1B, 1R) and Josh Hill collected the save.
Dirigo took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning. Tyler Bailey hit a single and scored on a Sawyer Pinkham double. Dirigo plated two runs in the 2nd inning. Hill hit a lead off homerun.
Andrew Coleman doubled and scored on a Ben Zook sacrifice. Dirigo attempted to tie the game in the 3rd when Caleb Cummings walked and tried to score on Pinkham’s second double of the night. Cummings was gunned down at the plate.
Saco added four insurance runs in the 4th. With two outs, Dirigo looked to pick up the final out on a routine ground ball, but the umpire ruled first baseman Devin Scherer was pulled off the bag. Saco drew a walk, then scored two runs on an error that saw a base runner block a Dirigo fielder’s view of the grounder. Austin McCrum then hit a two run homerun.
Hitting for Dirigo were Pinkham with two doubles, Jake Rideout a double, and Cummings and Bailey a single each. Andrew Coleman had a double and single for Saco, Hill and McCrum a homerun each, and Conner Provost a single.
Rideout took the loss and Scherer pitched one inning in relief. Rideout hit a three run homerun in the top of the 1st inning to give Dirigo the lead. Hill tied the score for Saco in the bottom of the 1st with a three run blast.
Hitting for Dirigo was Rideout with a homer and Sawyer, Scherer and Cummings with a single each.
