Dirigo jumped out to a 2-0 half-time lead and held off a spunky Lady Redskin team in second half action to 2-1 at Wiscasset’s Homecoming.
The Cougars out shot Wiscasset 11-5 in first half action, with Abbie Austin corralling nine saves. Erin Turner converted a Tia Dakin feed seven minutes into the game. Emily Chase scored off a Tricia Turner throw-in with 10:27 to go in the half to give Dirigo a 2-0 lead.
Wiscasset scored 32 seconds into the second half when Haley Grant collected the ball off the opening kick-off and dribbled down the field for an open shot on Cougar keeper Lanette Bryant. The rest of the half was a mid-field battle with very few scoring opportunities for either squad. Dirigo held a 16-10 shot advantage, with Bryant making four saves and Austin 14.
