Dirigo 10&11 Little League baseball all-stars won the District 5 championship on July 17 to earn a berth in the state tournament. Dirigo defeated Auburn 6-1 for the D5 title. Dominic Denico started the game on the Dirigo mound and collected the win.
After two scoreless innings, Caden Turcotte doubled and scored in the third inning to give Dirigo a 1-0 lead. Dirigo plated three runs in the fourth. Sam Hapgood-Belanger reached on a fielder’s choice, Nick Howard walked, Kai Rabideau hit a single and all three scored, padded by a Mick Richards single.
They added a run in the fifth on doubles from Ryan Creamer and H-Belanger, and one in the sixth when Seth Reed doubled and scored.
Ricky Cote scored the lone run for Auburn in the sixth after reaching on a triple.
Hitting for Dirigo were Turcotte, Creamer, H-Belanger and Reed with a double each, and Richards and Rabideau, a single each. Hitting for Auburn were Cote with a triple and single, Hunter Fisher a double and Jake Arel, Storm Jipson and Joel Stubbs, a single each.
