Wiscasset and Boothbay athletes had good individual showings at the State Class C track and field championships, held at Morse in Bath June 4. Maranacook won the boys’ team championship, and Traip Academy the girls’ title.
Wiscasset’s 4×100 relay team placed 2nd in 46.44 with Joe Chapman, John McLeod, Brian Campbell and Ross Hanley running a leg. Morgan Dodge was State runner-up in the 400m run in 1:03. Brian Campbell placed in two running events, taking 3rd in the 200 in 23.36 and 4th in the 400 in 53.03.
Also qualifying and competing for Wiscasset were Jason Berry (9th in the racewalk in 8:38), Kyle Shute (11th in the racewalk in 8:46), Joe Chapman (10th in the long jump (17’11”), and Samantha Sutter (11th in shotput, 27′.25″).
Also competing for Boothbay were Hannah Brewer (9th high jump, 4’6″), Tom Brown (9th, 1600 in 4:49), Nick James (17th in 300 hurdles, 47.10, 12th in javelin, 131’7″), and Kade Smith (8th in the racewalk, 8:30).
