Lincoln Academy baseball held off Belfast in the seventh inning to win 7-6 Friday in Newcastle. With the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the seventh inning, Devin Scherer made a nice catch in left field to rob Zach Collier of a hit.
Lincoln jumped out to a 6-0 lead on eight hits in the second inning, then battled the Lions, giving up five runs in the final three innings.
