Medomak Middle School finished second in the Pine Tree Wrestling League East Regional championships, held at Oceanside East High School in Rockland on Saturday.
The Riverhawks were undefeated going into the championships with a 22-0 record. Eleven of Medomak’s 15 wrestlers placed at the East championships to qualify for the Pine Tree States to be held March 28 at Cony High School in Augusta.
Two Riverhawk wrestlers won East Regional titles, including Duncan Widdecombe (93 pounds) and Eli Miller (137 pounds).
Placing second were Marshall Sawyer (75), Shane Cookson (105), Dylan O’Reilly (145), Korbin Daniels (155), Amos Hinkley (170), and Erik Benner (195). Ashton Daniels (240) placed third and Taylah Reed (99), and Will Perry (111) both placed fourth.
Troy Howard Middle School won the East Regionals with 207.5 points, to beat out Medomak 188.5, Oceanside 188.5, Bucksport 115, Mattanawcook 85.5, Mt.View 77.5, HAL 71, Winslow 62, Hancock 41.5, Camden 36, Hampden 22, and Ellsworth 21.

75 – Marshall Sawyer pinned Cody Olsen (Bu) in 1:12 and beat Carter Fogarty (OS) by 10-4 decision to advance to the championship round, where he was pinned by Jackson Sutherland (Ma) in 3:25.
87 – Logan Jenkins lost by 15-0 tech fall to Noah McClendon (MV), pinned Joah Thompson (CR) in 22 seconds, and was pinned by Jonah Lovejoy (TH) in 28 seconds.
93 – Duncan Widdecombe pinned Alex Smith (Ma) in 1:04 and Timmy Smith (TH) in 37 seconds to advance to the finals. Widdecombe defeated Zach Ward (MV) by 16-1 tech fall to win the East Regional title.
99 – Taylah Reed pinned Emma Freeman (Bu) in 2:45, was pinned by Isaac Ham (TH) in 2:33, pinned Grady Reardon (Ma) in 1:28, and was pinned by Ian Henderson (CR) in 4:02 to place fourth.
105 – Shane Cookson pinned Michael Cote (MV) in 18 seconds, and pinned Travis Mushero (MJ) in 3:20 to advance to the finals where he was pinned by Bennett Penney (OS) in 1:25.
111 – Will Perry was pinned by Drew Kelly (HAL) in 4:04, pinned Michaela Bisson (Wa) in 1:20 and pinned Darrin Frye (Ha) in 2:10 to advance to the consolation finals. Perry took fourth with a 10-0 major decision loss to Kelly.
117 – Eli McCollett pinned Jack Hansen (TH) in 4:04, was pinned by Noah Lang (HAL) and Anthony Proulx (Wi).
123 – Jake Gess was pinned by Seth Sweet (CR), pinned Emma Fonger (MV) in 27 seconds and was eliminated by Nick Larrabee (MJ) by fall in 2:05.
130 – Wesley Turner was pinned by Asa Hayes (TH) in 1:02 and by Jasmine Barnard (MV) in 1:03.
137 – Eli Miller drew a bye in the quarter-finals, pinned Oliver Spainhour (Bu) in the semifinals in 52 seconds, and beat Reed Kiah (He) by 14-5 major decision in the finals to win the East Regional 137 pound title.
145 – Dylan O’Reilly pinned Brady Hedstrom (CR) in 2:39 and Brody Gaslin (Bu) in 2:02 to advance to the championship round. O’Reilly was pinned in 6:30 in overtime by Lucien Marriner (OS) to take second.
155 – Korbin Daniels drew a bye in the quarter-finals, then pinned Nick Pelkey (MJ) in 52 seconds to advance to the finals. Daniels was pinned by Luke Wardwell (Bu) in 1:02 to take second.
170 – Amos Hinkley pinned Brennan Harris (OS) in 1:08 and Nathaniel Fuller (MV) in 4:08 to advance to the finals. Hinkley was pinned by Alex Demers (WN) in 2:52 to take second.
195 – Erik Benner pinned William Turner (MV) in 1:23 and Noah Scanlan (Bu) in 48 seconds to advance to the finals. Benner was pinned by Jared Smith (He) in 1:02 to take second.
240 – Ashton Daniels was pinned by Anthony Sanborn (TH) in 25 seconds, and then drew a bye to the consolation finals where he pinned Dakota Page (MJ) in 1:45 to take third.
