Ellsworth defeated Medomak Valley baseball 7-3 in a North Class B preliminary match-up on May 5 in Ellsworth. Connor Wagstaff collected the win (10K,2H,1B). Brent Stewart took the loss and Ryan Creamer closed out the final four innings.
Medomak jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a RBI single to Isaac Eutsler scoring Stewart. Ellsworth plated two runs in the home half of the inning. Medomak retook the lead in the top of the second with two runs. Wyatt Post walked, stole second and scored when Jordan Powell reached on an error. Powell scored when Stewart reached on an error.
Wagstaff and the Ellsworth defense settled down to hold the Panthers scoreless over the next five innings.
Adam and Isaac Eutsler collected the only hits for Medomak. Hitting for Ellsworth were Jared Hamilton with a double and two singles, (3RBI), Sam Horne two singles, Chris Barnes a double, and Brad Smith, Sam Griffin and Troy Fomer a single each.
