Quick action by a Bristol volunteer firefighter saved the home of a Round Pond couple, James and Maxine Poland.
Firefighter Troy Spinney was driving past the home when he noticed flames coming out from under a pick up truck that was parked next to the home.
He slamed on his brakes, ran inside the house to make sure no one wa at home, then called 911 on his cell phone. Minutes later, other volunteer firefighters arrived and helped put out the blaze.
“They did a wonderful job,” said neighbor Bethiah Callahan.
