Four Medomak Valley wrestlers placed at the Eastern Maine Class B championships at MDI Feb. 5 and qualified for the State Class B championships, to be held at the Augusta Civic Center, on Sat., Feb. 12. Stefan Nicholls placed second at 130 pounds, and Cyril Miller (160), Dylan Look (215) and Gabe Delano (285) placed fourth.
Camden Hills won the Regional title with 239 points, followed by Belfast 209, Ellsworth 113, Hermon 95, MCI 82, Caribou 71, Medomak 53, Old Town 43, Sumner 28, MDI 19, Mt.View 12 and Central had no score.
Nicholls (MV 130) pinned Dustin Whitcomb (Mt.V) in 42 seconds and pinned Dustin Smalley (EL) in 5:09 to advance to the finals, where he lost a 10-5 decision to Thomas Cassidy (Cam) for second place.
Kody Wallace (MV 152) was pinned by Ethan Fitzjurls (Bel) in 2:35, pinned Sam Reeves in 16 seconds, beat Kyle Hornyak (Her) by 17-7 decision, and was eliminated by Ben Wildes (EL) in the consolation semis by fall in 5:08.
Cyril Miller (MV 160) was pinned by Britton Moholland (MCI) in 1:09, pinned Paul Young (Cen), beat Harry Whitmore (El) by 11-2 decision, and beat Brandon Burgess (Her) by 3-2 decision to advance to the consolation finals. Miller was pinned by Justin Libby (OT) in 2:44 for fourth place.
Brandon Holloway (MV 171) was pinned by Kornealius Wood (Bel) in 1:31, drew a bye, and was eliminated by Jake Maher (Car) in 2:58.
Dylan Look (MV 215) beat Josh Fowler (El), pinned Trevor Neal (OT) by fall in 5:05, was pinned by Rhett Chase (Cam) in 1:50, beat Tyson Marr (Bel) by 11-5 decision, to advance to the consolation finals. Look lost a tough 2-1 decision to Josh Fowler (El) in the finals for fourth place.
Gabe Delano (285) beat Jacob McGowan (MCI) by 7-6 decision, was pinned by Michael Garland (El) in 3:16, pinned Tyler Stevenson (MtV) in 4:57, and lost to Jacob McGowan (MCI) by 6-1 decision in the consolation finals for fourth place.
