The PK was called on a weird play that saw Cromwell dive and make an outstanding catch. Cromwell drew contact from a Buccaneer and hurt her hand on the play, but the whistle did not blow and the clock was not stopped. Everyone on the field stopped playing and a Wiscasset defender picked up the ball in the confusion and was called for a handball in the penalty box.
Cromwell made 21 saves on 22 shots in the loss. Buccaneer keeper Kennadi Grover made two saves.
Aiding Cromwell on the defensive end were Lauren Trudea, Cassandra Tardif, Abby Foster and Maddy Wehrle who made outstanding defensive plays in the second half to keep the Lady Bucs off the boards. Wehrle had two shots in the second half – one stopped by Grover and the other missed wide on a rocket shot on a back pass.
