Seventeen runners took on the challenging 5K at the DRA on Aug. 28. Shawn Grooms was the overall winner on the off road course in a time of 23:01. Grooms beat out nearest competitor Nicholas Smelcer by 27 seconds. Hannah Fake was the top female finisher in 27:12.
The race was moved to the evening with a 6 p.m. start. Clear skies and cool afternoon temperatures made for excellent running conditions. The race was a fundraiser for Lincoln Academy girls’ and boys’ swim team. The swim team thanks all the sponsors, volunteers and patrons of the event.
