After knocking off number three Skowhegan and number two Nokomis, sixth seed Medomak Valley boys basketball team hoped they had one more upset win in their pockets in the North A Regional final against Hampden Academy on Fri. Feb. 23. While the Panthers got the job done defensively, holding the Broncos to 43 points, they could not muster the offense to overpower the number one seed, falling 43-21 in a defensive battle won by Hampden.
Hampden jumped out to a 14-3 first quarter lead. The Panthers rallied in the second, out scoring the Broncos 9-4 to cut the lead to seven by the half, 19-12. Hampden put the game away in the third with a 14-4 run to lead 33-16 heading into the final period.
Medomak was led by Ethan Reed 5, Josh Goldrup 4 and Nathan Emerson 3. Hampden was led by Kory Winch 14, Iam McIntire 10 and Tommy Raye 9.
