For the 15th year, Boy Scout Troop 216 is organizing the 5K race that kicks off the Jefferson Community Day festivities on Aug. 17 in Jefferson Village.
This is the one major fundraiser that Troop 216 plans each year and they hope that the community and runners will come out and support them along with the other Community Day activities.
The course starts at the driveway of the Jefferson Village School and traveling toward the Valley Road, down the Valley Road to a turn around and retracing back to the Town Office in Jefferson Village.
Registration is from 6:30 a.m. to 7:20 a.m. Walkers will start at 7:30 a.m. and runners will start at 8 a.m. Registration will be set up on the lawn of the town office.
The first 20 paid registrants will receive a race day t-shirt. Registration cost is $15 if pre-registered by Aug. 10; the cost is $20 the day of the race. There is a reduced fee for school teams bringing five or more runners. Participants may pre-register by contacting Katrina Guptill at 660-7963 for a registration form.
