The Lincoln Academy Alumni Council has created a Sports Hall of Fame to recognize outstanding contributions to the school’s athletic program over the years. Nominations for the 2013 inaugural class are due on Sept. 1.
Up to 10 members will be inducted in 2013. This group may include one posthumous candidate and one coach or school official each year.
Nominations may be made by family members, friends, coaches, or by the nominee him- or herself, but they must be made on the official nomination form. This form is available at the drop box inside the front door of the LA Development Office, 48 Academy Hill (drop box in front door), at the LA main office, or by contacting Kathe Cheska at 563-3599 or cheska@lincolnacademy.org.
There will also be information posted on Lincoln Academy Alumni’s Facebook page.
Nominees must be Lincoln Academy alumni or former coach or a person who has had a significant impact on Lincoln Academy sports. Athletes must be out of high school at least 10 years and coaches and school staff must be inactive at the school for at least five years.
The following criteria will be considered:
• Varsity level competition
• Leadership
• Impact on athletic program
• Awards and/or honors
• Good moral character
Nominations are invited for all sports and all years. The induction ceremony will be held during the alumni basketball games on Thanksgiving weekend.
The selection committee is made up of eight members, four from the LA Alumni Council and four from the community at large appointed by the LA Alumni Council.
Names of Hall of Fame members will be displayed in the Nelson Bailey Gymnasium lobby with other trophies and plaques that represent the success of LA’s athletic programs through the decades.
