The Lincoln Academy boys track and field team placed third and the girls placed fourth at a five-school KVAC track meet Thursday, April 24 in Brunswick. The host, Brunswick, won both the girls and boys meets, which also included Mt. Blue, Maine Central Institute, and Oceanside.
David Winchenbach led the way for the Lincoln Academy boys team by winning the javelin with a throw of 133’2” and the shot put with a toss of 38’4” and placing second in the high jump.
Other first place finishes for the Eagles included Cooper Powell in the high jump with a leap of 5’6” and Abe Guilford in the discus with a throw of 138’11”. Guilford also placed second in the triple jump and second in the javelin. Powell also placed fourth in the triple jump.
Other top-five finishes for the Lincoln Academy boys included Caleb McArdle, second in the 400m dash; Joseph Levesque, second in the 110m hurdles, third in the 300m hurdles, and fifth in the long jump; Oliver Jonason, second in the 300m hurdles, fourth in the high jump, and fifth in the triple jump; Bear Grandy, third in the 200m dash; Calvin Wicks, third in the 110m hurdles; and Alden Fitzgerald Ward, fifth in the 3200m run.
Dylan Burmeister had a strong meet for the Lady Eagles, winning the 800m run in a time of 2:42 and placing a very close second in the 1600m. Delia Saft tied Burmeister for the most individual points, by winning the 300m hurdles in a time of 52.46 and placing second in the high jump.
The quartet of Burmeister, Saft, Chloe Anderson, and Maggie Thompson won the 4×400 relay in 4:43.
Other Lincoln Academy girls with top-five finishes included Anderson, fourth in the 1600m; Lucy Fowler, second in the discus and fifth in the javelin; and Thompson, third in the javelin.
