LA picks up a pair of wins over Medomak
Lincoln Academy softball and baseball teams were victorious over Medomak Valley in their KVAC opener in Newcastle on April 23.
The Eagles defeated the Lady Panthers 6-1 in softball action. Medomak took a 1-0 lead in the first on a RBI sacrifice fly from Kasey Benner, scoring Alanna Vose. Medomak led 1-0 after three innings, before Lincoln rallied to win in late innings. Details of the game will appear in the LCN April 29 edition.
Lincoln baseball topped Medomak 8-6. The Eagles took a 2-0 lead, before Medomak knotted the score in the fourth on a two run single to Dillon Reed. Mardy Alden hit a two run single in the bottom of the inning to give Lincoln the lead for good.
Taylor Williamson cut the lead to one with a RBI double in the fifth. Jeff Lamb hit a two run double and Dalton Leeman a RBI double for the Eagles in the fifth. Eagle Brandon Reilly helped his own cause with a RBI single in the sixth to give Lincoln an 8-3 lead going into the final inning.
Steven Genthner smashed a three run homerun to cut the lead to two in the top of the seventh. With one out, Alex Cosgrove came in to face one batter and picked up a strikeout. Jeff Cheney faced the final batter forcing the Panthers into a ground out to collect the save.
