The winless Lady Eagle soccer team battled Belfast to a 1-1 tie Tuesday night under the lights in Newcastle. The tie was the third for Lincoln Academy this season. Tuesday was senior night at LA.
“We got some great quarters out of senior Laura Otterbein. She played her heart out,” coach John Schumacher said. Schumacher also sited senior Becca Hadik for playing very well.
“We completely dominated the game. We had big chances, we just couldn’t finish. It was a good team effort. We just couldn’t put it in the back of the net,” Schumacher said.
Rachel Kahn gave the Lions a 1-0 lead with 16:47 to go in the half. Freshman Barrett Campbell knotted the score three minutes later. The two teams battled through a scoreless second half and two overtimes before settling for a 1-1 tie.
Rachel Hughes made three stops in net for the Eagles, and Autumn Jackson nine for the Lions. Lincoln held a 23-4 edge in shots.
