Marni Jones made five of six and Kassie Lincoln three of six in overtime. Katherine Bolster came up big defensively in the overtimes with three steals. “Lincoln played exceptionally well on defense and probably led us with rebounds. She and Bolster led us toward the end (of the game). Bolster hit a baseline jumper in the first overtime that came at a crucial time in the game when were down,” coach Conrad Lewis said.
Single digits separated the two teams throughout the defensive contest. Lincoln led 5-3 at the quarter, 13-11 at the half and 20-19 at the end of three. The Lady Eagles had a chance to win the game in regulation when Jones was fouled on a shot at the buzzer. With time expired and the game tied at 24-24, Jones went to the line and missed both shots.
“The kids rallied around her afterwards. Marni really came through in overtime though,” coach Lewis said of Jones’s 5 for 6 effort at the foul line.
Both teams scored seven in the first overtime and were tied at 31, forcing a second, where Lincoln out scored Belfast 7-3 to win 38-34.
Scoring for Lincoln were Laura Soohey 12, Lincoln 8, Anna Budrow 7, Jones 6 and Bolster 5. Scoring for Belfast were C. Nelligan 13, Cross 6, Doolna 4, Curtis 4, Mansfield 3, Woodboury 2 and Carr 1.
The Eagles jumped out to a 10-5 1st quarter lead, ending the period with six straight points. Laura Soohey scored on a Katherine Bolster pass, Anna Budrow on a Kassie Lincoln feed, and Lincoln settled a three in the rally.
Lincoln extended their lead to 15-6 mid-way through the 2nd quarter at the foul line. The Raiders came roaring back with a 12 to 3 run to go into the halftime break tied at 18.
Megan Pelletier broke the game open for Winslow with 10 points in the 3rd quarter to give the Raiders a 28-20 lead going into the final period. There were three technical fouls in the heated 4th quarter. The Eagles made just three of eight foul shots to seal their own fate.
Winslow held Soohey to single digits for the first time all season, with just three points.
Scoring for Lincoln were Anna Budrow 6 (4R,2S), Bolster 5 (3R,1A,5S), Lincoln 5 (2A), Marni Jones 5, Laura Soohey 3 (3R,2B) and Kelsey Schwarz 1. Scoring for Winslow were Pelletier 15 (5R,2S), Kelsea Bouchard 9, Elizabeth Ferry 6 (6R) and Kylee Risinger 2.
Nokomis led 16-9 at the quarter, 31-14 at the half and 47-20 at the end of three.
Scoring for the Eagles were Jones 17, Soohey 5, Bolster 3, Kelsey Schwarz 3, Merissa Look 2, Lincoln 2 and Budrow 1. Scoring for Nokomis were Mary Bodeen 11, Kara Batchelder 9, Marissa Snow 9, Emilee Reynolds 8, Stephanie Stohe 5, Rachel Tozier 5, Danielle Watson 4, Sara Richardson 2 and Julie Smith 2.
