Lincoln Academy’s softball team returns a veteran crew, including six seniors. Senior Amelia Pennington returns to the mound, after leading the Lady Eagles to a 13-3 record last season.
“We have a very strong senior class. They have been working very hard in the off season. I’m really, really looking forward to this season. We should be pretty successful. Our goal is to make it deep into the playoffs. I’m very excited for the season.” returning coach Katie Nicholls said.
Friday’s snowstorm put a wrinkle in Lincoln’s practice schedule, as the Eagles were hoping to get outside this week. Outside practice will now have to wait another week.
Playing on this year’s team are seniors Pennington, Marni Jones, Laura Soohey, Kianna Santos, Sarah Alley and Katherine Bolster; junior Morgan Scavetta; sophomores Tara Gauntt, Alli Morgner, and Shania Creamer; and freshmen Rachel Hughes and Gretchen Konitzky.
The Eagles will swing four players between varsity and JV, including juniors Chelsea Guptill and Maryssa Poland, sophomore Merissa Look and freshman Colleen Trayers.
