Lincoln Academy girls basketball team defeated York 50-40 Tuesday night in a West Class B quarterfinal game at the Portland Expo.
The Lady Eagles got off to a slow start, trailing 11-1 in the first quarter, before pecking away at the Wildcats lead. Lincoln took the lead with 5:46 to play in the game then built a six point lead when they rallied for the first 10 points for the fourth quarter. Lincoln freshman, and KVAC All Rookie team member, Kaitlyn Feltis scored three baskets, including two off the offensive glass in the rally. Brie Wajer came up with a couple of crucial steals, and she and Olivia York sank three of four foul shots, and Danielle Pinkham 2 of 2 in the final two minute of play to pull out the 10 point win. LIncoln moves on to the semifinals on Thursday afternoon at the Portland Cross Center.
Scoring for Lincoln were Wajer 18, Feltis 8, Alyx York 7, Leslie Sandefur 6, Avae Traina 4, Olivia York 3, Pinkham 2 and Brianna Genthner 2. Scoring for York were Shannon Todd 15, Paige McElwin 9, Emma Thomson 6, Mia Briggs 4, and LIlian Pasternak, Erin McCafferty and Suzanne Donovan 2 each.
