The Lincoln Academy girls tennis team defeated Belfast 4-1 in their season finale on Tuesday to wrap up their KVAC season undefeated at 12-0. The Lady Eagles will host Waterville at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27 for the KVAC championship.
First singles players Leslie Sandefur, Cris Garcia, and Nettie Hoagland swept their matches by 8-0 pro-sets. Sandefur beat Madison Pickering, Garcia beat Lucie Boneville, and Hoagland topped Hannah Greene. Polina Scimone and Shiann Keene lost 8- 2 at first doubles to Catey McGinn and Emma Sturdevant, and Kate Westhaver and Hana Hirano won at second doubles, 8-1, over Hannah Lynam and Maylinda Boynton.
Lincoln 5 – Erskine 0
The Lincoln Academy girls tennis team improved to 11-0 with a shutout win over Erskine Academy on Friday. Leslie Sandefur beat Kate Vannorsdale by 8-1 pro-set at first singles. Cris Garcia swept Sophie Landers 8-0 at second singles. Nettie Hoagland defeated Serene Landers 8-3 at third singles.
Kate Westhaver and Hana Hirano teamed up to beat Vivian Priestly and Kelsie Merrill 8-3 at first doubles. Polina Scimone and Shiann Keene edged Frances Pendleton and Julia Holt 9-8 at second doubles.
Lincoln 3 – Oceanside 2
Lincoln Academy girls tennis defeated Oceanside 3-2 on May 20 to improve their record to 10-0. All three Eagle singles players stroked to victories. Leslie Sandefur swept Lilly Butler 6-0, 6-0 at first singles.
Cris Garcia topped Becca Boggs 6-1, 6-3 at second singles. Nettie Hoagland beat Emily Gould in three sets at third singles, 6-2, 4- 6, 6-4. Kate Westhaver (first loss of season) and Hana Hiraro lost in three sets, 6-2, 2-6, 4-6 to Mary Allen and Clara Feltus at first doubles. Polina Scimone (first loss of season) and Shiann Keene fell 6- 2, 6-0 to Emily Pollero and Hannah Grace at second doubles.
