Sixth seed Lincoln Academy girls basketball team upset third seed Mt.Valley 60-39 in a South Class B quarter-final game at the Portland Expo on Feb. 21. The Eagles took the lead for good with 1:54 to play in the first quarter, then held off Falcoln challenges in the second and third periods. Lincoln led 32-27 at the half and 44-36 at the end of three. Steals from Cagney O’Brien and Brie Wajer rallied the Eagles.
Lincoln was led by O’Brien with 22 and Wajer 19. Wajer needs 16 more points to reach the career benchmark of 1,000. The Eagles play on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. at the Cross Insurance Center.
Mt.Valley was led by Emily Laubauskas 10, Emma Casey with 6 and Chelsea Allison 5.
