Medomak Valley softball squeaked out a 2-1 win over Belfast in make-up action on June 2 in Belfast in their KVAC season finale. The Lady Panthers scored both of their runs in the top of the 2nd inning, and Belfast their lone run in the home half of the 1st.
Kayla Santheson (3H,6K,0B) won the pitcher’s duel with Victoria Overlock (6K,3B,2HP,3H) over the final six scoreless innings to pick up the win.
Heidi Obuchon drew a walk, stole second and scored on a Kasey Benner single to plate the first run in Medomak’s two run 1st inning. Benner moved to second when Lindsay Ranquist was hit by a pitch, stole third and scored on an error on the throw.
Santheson pitched out of a bases-loaded, one out situation in the 5th inning, when she struck out a Lion, then gave up a ground ball for the third out.
Panther shortstop Alanna Vose took a three hopper off the nose and was taken to the hospital during the game.
Hitting for Medomak were Vanessa Davis with a triple and single and Benner a single. Hitting for Belfast were Haley Rae, Overlock and Killyan Richards with a single each.
