Medomak Valley girls basketball team held off a feisty Lincoln Academy team 47-44 to pick up their sixth win of the season on Jan. 2 in Waldoboro. The game was tight from the beginning with the Eagles leading 17-15 at the quarter and 25-24 at the half, and Medomak leading 34-33 at the end of three. Medomak opened the fourth period with a 6-2 run to take a five point lead. Lincoln cut the lead to one with 1:45 to play then sent the Panthers to the line. Medomak was unable to put the game away at the foul line, connecting on just 5 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter. Maddy York looked to tie the game for the Eagles with 32 seconds to go when she drove down the middle, but Maddy White drew a charge negating the basket.
Medomak was led by Sadie Cohen with 18 and Maddy White 9. Lincoln was led by Chelsea Williams 14 and Maddy York 11.
