Medomak Valley softball opened their KVAC season on Fri., April 22 with a 6-1 win over Lincoln Academy. Lady Panther Desiree Benner struck out nine (4H,5B,1HP) for the win. Amelia Pennington took the loss for the Eagles (8H,0B,8K).
Medomak scored all the runs they needed in the first inning. Vanessa Davis reached on a bunt single and scored on a Lindsay Ranquist triple. Ranquist came home when Kasey Benner hit a high fly ball to center field for an error.
The score remained 2-0 for three innings, before the Panthers plated a third run in the bottom of the fourth on a triple to K. Benner and single to Ericka Christensen.
Lincoln spoiled the shutout in the top of the fifth. Katherine Bolster was hit by a pitch and scored when Pennington reached on an error.
Medomak plated two runs in the fifth when Davis doubled, Ranquist reached on an error and K. Benner hit a single. They added a run in the sixth when Mallory Conary singled, stole to third on passed balls and scored on a ground out put in play by Vose. Conary came home on a throwing error on the play.
Hitting for Medomak were K. Benner with a triple and single, Davis a double and single, Ranquist a triple, and Christensen and Conary a single each. Scoring for Lincoln were Marni Jones, Pennington, Rachel Hughes and Sarah Alley with a single each.
The Lady Panthers jumped out to a 3-0 first inning lead. Vanessa Davis and Heidi Obuchon singled and Lindsay Ranquist was hit by a pitch to load up the bases for a Kasey Benner three run triple.
Belfast tied the game in the bottom of the fourth. Medomak put their bats to work in the top of the fifth for five runs. Davis, Obuchon and K. Benner singled to set up a pair of two run singles from Ericka Christensen and Mallory Conary. Conary scored on a passed ball.
Hitting for Medomak were K. Benner with a triple and single, Davis and Obuchon 2 singles each, and Christensen and Conary a single each. Hitting for Belfast were Overlock with 2 doubles (1 RBI), A. Hall 2 singles, and A. Small, Cummings and Richards a single each.
