Waterville took a 31-29 lead at the end of the third period. Danielle Dyer hit a big 3-pointer with four minutes to play to tie the game at 37-37.
Then, “Waterville’s experience took over. Once they took the lead they spread the floor and we were forced to foul. They made their shots and we didn’t make ours at the other end,” coach Randy Hooper said.
“It was a big confidence booster for us. We need to ride that for the rest of the season. We were not hanging our heads when we walked out of there. We’re hoping for a rematch,” Hooper added of his team’s showing against one of the premiere girls’ basketball teams in the state.
