The Lady Panthers of Medomak Valley are off to a perfect 7-0 start as they near the mid-point of their KVAC season. Medomak girls picked off Belfast 46-38 and Mt.View 57-30 in basketball action this week to maintain the top spot in East Class B.
“We cut down on turnovers and picked up our defensive intensity a little bit,” coach Randy Hooper commented on Medomak only giving up five points in the third quarter.
Scoring for the Panthers were Ericka Christensen 17 (9R), Lindsay Ranquist 10, Alanna Vose 10, Vanessa Davis 4, Kasey Benner 2, Nicole Weaver 2 and Roxanne Jelenfy 1. Scoring for Belfast were Nelligan 17, Lapham 6, Drinkwater 6, Blood 3, Drake 2, Cummins 2 and Rauch 2.
The Lady Panthers hit five three-pointers in the win, including two from Kasey Benner and one each from Nicole Weaver, Mallory Conary and Alanna Vose.
Ten players put numbers up on the board for the Panthers in the win. Scoring for Medomak were Ranquist 15 (6R), Christensen 9 (6R), Vose 9, Benner 6, Weaver 5, Jelenfy 4, Mallory Conary 3, Davis 2, Mallory Robbins 2 and Ashley Rackliff 2. Scoring for Mt.View were H. Kein 13, D. Kein 5, Murphy 4, Piotti 4, Dyer 2 and Thomley 2.
