Medomak Valley girls’ soccer team dropped their final two KVAC matches of the season to finish 10-4.
Gardiner handed the Panthers a 3-0 loss on Oct. 14 in Waldoboro. Ashley Abbott scored all three goals for the Tigers. Gardiner led 1-0 at the half. Medomak “controlled the play but struggled to put the ball past Gardiner’s Jen Day, who made seven saves on 11 shots,” coach Joel Lufkin commented. Erika Christensen made five saves on 12 Tiger shots.
Alanna Vose knotted the score with five and a half minutes remaining in the half on a long cross from Julie Ennamorati. The score held up until 19 minutes remaining in the game when Jammer Kristina Alex “collected a free ball some 25 yards out and kicked it on net. Relentless play by both teams failed to cause another goal but was very exciting to watch.
“In the last minute of the game it looked like Alanna Vose would tie it up after losing her shoe at midfield. She continued to attack the goal and looked to shoot inside the 18 but was pushed off the ball and came up empty,” Lufkin said.
Lynsay Bumbalo made four saves on six Panther shots, and Christensen stopped three of seven Camden shots.
