Wiscasset girls’ soccer team shut out the Bulldogs from Hall-Dale Oct. 11 in Farmingdale in their Mt.Valley Conference season finale. The win was the fourth straight for the Wolverines who finish the season with a 10-3-1 record.
The two teams battled to a scoreless tie in first-half action. Sarah Hanley lit up Wiscasset’s net for two goals in the second half.
Hanley’s first goal was scored on a breakaway about 15 minutes into the half. Hanley struck again on a Maddie Wehrle through pass about 10 minutes later.
Wiscasset and Hall Dale had 10 shots each. Kayla Gordon earned the shutout in net for the Wolverines with eight saves. The shutout was Gordon’s sixth of the season. Olivia Maynard (one of two Bulldog keepers) made three saves.
Defensive leaders of the game were Hanna Foye, Brianna Goud and Maeve Carlson.
“Another real standout was Alecia Faulkingham. She was able to run down some balls no one else could get to. She had some nice breakaways,” coach Duane Goud said.
