Lincoln Academy runners Mary Leeman and Gary Ward placed in the top 20 at the West Class B Regional Cross Country championships on Oct. 31 in Cumberland to qualify for the State Class B meet to be held on Sat., Nov. 7 at Twin Brook in Cumberland. Race times for Class B are 12:15 p.m. and 1 p.m.
In the girls’ Regional meet, Cape Elizabeth won with 29 points. Abby Mace of Maranacook was the West B Regional champ in 18:54. The Eagles placed 8th out of 12 teams.
Nikki Leeman medalled with an 8th place finish in 21:05. Freshman Hannah Fake missed qualifying for States by four spots, placing 24th in 22:30. Allison Fisher took 54th in 24:16, Katrina Belle 62nd in 26:03, Celia Howland 63rd in 26:03, and Katie Williams 74th in 29:19.
Lincoln Academy boys placed 9th out of 13 teams. York’s Alex Moser won the West Regional title in 16:19, edging Fryeburg’s Silas Eastman by one second. Eagle Gary Ward medalled with a 7th place finish in 17:17 to earn a spot at the State tourney. Ward qualified for States his sophomore year, but gave blood before Regionals last year and was unable to qualify.
Alex Benner placed 56th for Lincoln Academy in 19:58, Steven Severance 65th in 20:33, Shawn Grooms 75th in 21:32, Wyatt Ray 82nd in 22:45, Daniel Mayer 86th in 23:51, and Timothy Leeman 87th in 23:53.
