On Aug. 18 Paul Leeman III, of Round Pond, accomplished a goal, he set on his 37th birthday, to run 38 miles on his 38th birthday. He turned his birthday run into a fundraising event, “The 38 Run Fund.”
With a tremendous amount of support from family, friends, and neighbors, The 38 Run Fund raised $2500. Donations are still being accepted. All donations will be split between two Maine non-profits, The Grieving Center for Children, and The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital.
Leeman said he is overwhelmed with all the support he received, and is already planning to do a 39 miler next year!
He finished the run in six hours and forty-five minutes. His family cheered him on along the route, and provided water and food.
A couple of friends ran portions of the route with him, and his mother Debi, who was celebrating her birthday that day, road her bike along side him. The run finished at the Anchor Inn were Paul was met by his wife Cerina, his son and daughter, Paul IV and Lola, and a group of family and friends.
Donations may be sent to “The 38 Run Fund”, C/O The First, P.O. Box 940, Damariscotta, 04543.
