Legions Wrap Up Whirlwind Week

The Lincoln County American Legion baseball team wrapped up a whirlwind week, playing nine games in seven days. Lincoln split their games and are now 6-6.

Subway 12 – Lincoln 6Holt, Grady and Pulver combined for Subway for a 12-6 win on July 29. Dalton Leeman started for Lincoln and went five innings (2R), and Ben Bartlett finished out the final two innings (10R).

Hitting for Lincoln were Merritt Wotton with a double and 2 singles, Jeff Lamb 3 singles, Stephen Quinlan a homerun and Brandon Reilly and Everett Martin a single each. Hitting for Subway were Jory Humphrey with a two run homerun and single, Suga a homerun, Cabiniss a double and Pulver, Camp, Bragg-Grady, Wood, and Cloutier a single each.Waterville 7 – Lincoln 6Nashed went the distance for Waterville, striking out 11 (5H, 6B, 2HP). Jason Weatherbee and Quinlan pitched three innings each. Lincoln scored four runs in the 7th inning to pull within one.

Hitting for Lincoln were Wotton and Bo McLain with 2 singles each and Quinlan a single. Hitting for Waterville were Smith with 2 doubles and a single, Sawyer a double and 2 singles, Porfirio and Cox a double each, and Nashed, Fitzgerald and Berosky a single each.Lincoln 15 – Waterville 4Lincoln snapped a five game losing streak and avenged their loss to Waterville with a 15-4 win on July 1. Mason Brewer went the distance for the win (7K, 2B, 2HP).

Hitting for Lincoln were Ben McLain with 3 doubles (1RBI), Bo McLain 2 doubles and a single, Quinlan a two run homerun in the 4th and a double, Joey Hersom a solo homerun in the 3rd, Wotton a double, and Weatherbee, Martin, Leeman (2RBI) a single each. Hitting for Waterville were Goudette with a homerun and single, and Nashed a double and single.Lincoln 4 – Madison 3Weatherbee smashed a solo homerun in the 2nd inning and a three run homerun in the 3rd to power Lincoln to a 4-3 win over Madison. Weatherbee got the start and went three plus innings (3K, 2B, 2HP, 2H, 3R), and Leeman closed the game (2H, 1HP, 1B, 2K).

Hitting for Lincoln were Weatherbee with two homeruns, and Ben McLain, Wotton, Geno Wentworth and Bo McLain a single each. Hitting for Madison were Nelson with a homerun and single, and Wacombe and Labrie a single each.Lincoln 11 – Madison 0Brandon Reilly threw a no-hit shutout to lift Lincoln to an 11-0 win over Madison on July 2. Reilly fanned 11 of the 15 Madison batters he faced in the five-inning mercy ruling win.

Hitting for Lincoln were Wotton with a three run homerun in the 4th and a single (4RBI), Jeff Lamb a double and single, Weatherbee a double and Ben McLain, Reilly and Bo McLain a single each.Augusta 12 – Lincoln 2Lincoln County had a barn burner of a game going against Augusta Tuesday night in Boothbay, but back to back throwing errors on the same play saw three runners come home in the 6th. The wheels fell off the cart after that and Burns took advantage for a grand slam homerun. Augusta scored 10 runs in the inning to win by mercy ruling.

Mason Brewer took the loss, and Bartlett pitched a partial inning in relief. Chandler Shostak (5I) and Chase Shostak (1I) pitched in the win and combined for a two hitter (9K, 5B).

Augusta scored a run in the 2nd on back-to-back doubles from LaPierre and Minoty. Lincoln took the lead in the 5th with two runs. Jeff Lamb singled and Brewer walked. Pinch runner Israel Daiute scored on a Bo McLain bunt. Wotton singled home Brewer to give the local boys the lead.

Augusta tied the game in the 5th when Lachance walked and scored on an Ogren double.

Hitting for Lincoln were Wotton and Lamb with a single each. Hitting for Augusta were Burns with a homerun and single, Lapierre a double and 2 singles, Ogren and Minoty a double and single each, Dunklee and McKee 2 singles each and Lachance a single.
