Save the date, because it is less than two weeks before the Annual Alvin Sproul Samoset 10K road race on Sun., Aug. 12 beginning at 8 a.m.
Runners and walkers of all ages are encouraged to attend this scenic run that starts near the Bristol Consolidated School in Pemaquid and runs along State Rt. 32 with views of Muscongus Bay and the Rachel Carson Preserve.
Named in honor of the long-time race director Alvin Sproul, all the proceeds of this special feature of Olde Bristol Days benefits the Bristol Volunteer Fire and Rescue Dept.
The 10K starts promptly at 8 a.m. (walkers begin at 7:30 a.m.) to avoid the heat of the August summer.
The one mile Kids Fun Run for boys and girls ages 14 and younger begins at 9:30 a.m. Awards to top finishers for the road race, walk and fun run in a wide range of age categories as well as door prizes will be presented immediately following the kids run.
Check in and race registration is at the Bristol Consolidated School on Rt. 130 in Pemaquid beginning at 7 a.m. Refreshments will provided by the Bristol Fire and Rescue Ladies Auxiliary. At least two water stations are planned as well.
