The Lincoln Academy Boys’ and Girls’ Varsity Basketball teams will take on alumni teams on the Friday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 28.
This annual event features men alumni from the 2004-2008 classes versus the 2008-09 boys’ varsity team and lady alumni from any classes versus the girls’ varsity team. Between the alumni/varsity games, there will be a pick-up game featuring men alumni prior to the Class of 2004.
Special guests at this year’s games are the members of the 1989 State Champion Boys’ Basketball team with their managers, coaches and announcers and the 1989 cheerleading squad. They will be honored between the men’s alumni game and the boys’ varsity game.
The games start at 5 p.m. in the Nelson Bailey Gymnasium with the Girls’ Varsity and lady alumni, followed by the game between men alumni who graduated before 2004 (odd versus even years), the honor ceremony and the final game of the night between the Boys’ Varsity and the 2004-2008 men alumni.
This traditional Thanksgiving weekend event is sponsored by the Lincoln Academy Alumni Council. The Council will sell hot dogs, pizza, snacks and drinks during the games.
Admission is $4 for adults, $1 for students. Children 6 and under and members of the L.A.’s Class of 2008 are admitted free. Proceeds support the Lincoln Academy Alumni Council’s programs and activities, which also include Homecoming, the alumni banquet, and publication of the Lincoln Log.
