Lincoln County Little League baseball All-stars defeated Waldoboro Monday night in Warren, 12-4, in the first round of the District 2 playoffs. Travis Cream pitched to the first four batters (4K, 1H), and Kobe Lincoln finished out the game (5K, 4H, 2B). Noah Beck took the loss for Waldoboro (4I, 4K, 3B, 6H, 6R), with Hunter Wincapaw (2K, 6B, 1HP, 1H) and Robbie Flint (0K, 0B, 0H) pitching in relief.
Lincoln jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning. Nick Morton reached on a fielder’s choice, Creamer singled and Lincoln walked to load up the bases for an RBI walk to Tyler Cheney and two run single to Aaron McCullagh. They added three runs in the 2nd inning. Morton reached on an error and scored on a Creamer double. Brett Cowan walked and both he and Creamer scored on a Lincoln single.
Waldoboro pulled within two with a four run 2nd inning. Calvin Robbins led off with a solo homerun over the left-centerfield fence. The next three runs came in on five fielder’s choices, with Robbie Flint driving home Jamie Temple, and Micah Williams scoring Tyler Emerson. Flint scored on a passed ball.
Lincoln added a run in the 5th when Lincoln reached on a fielder’s choice and scored on a bases loaded walk to Greg Anderson. They added five runs in the top of the 6th. Morton, Brett Cowan and Lincoln walked to load up the bases. Cheney and Anderson drove in two runs each and Colton Spear one when they reached on errors.
Hitting for Lincoln were Creamer with a double and single, Cheney a double, and Aaron McCullagh, G. Anderson, Lincoln and Spear a single. Hitting for Waldoboro were Robbins with a homerun, double and single, and Hunter Wincapaw and Tyler Emerson a single each.
Lincoln County will play again on Mon., July 13 at Rockland at 5:30 p.m., and Waldoboro will play next on Thurs., July 9 in Bath at 5:30 p.m. in the double elimination District 2 playoffs.
