Lincoln Academy boys’ basketball team picked up their first win of the season in front of their home crowd, 68-53 over Maranacook Tuesday night in their KVAC home opener. The Eagles moved the ball well and played team ball, drawing a standing ovation from their fans in the final minute of play.
Lincoln scored the final seven points of the first quarter to take 15-9 lead at the end one. Ethan Wajer and Ben McLain scored and Andrew Feltis hit his first of five 3-pointers in the rally.
A fast paced second quarter saw the Eagles soar in 21 points and the Bears 20. Lincoln went into the halftime break with a 36-29 lead, and led 48-41 at the end of three. The Bears pulled within six twice in the final frame.
Lincoln was hit for nine second-half fouls before the Bears were tagged with their first foul of the half with 3:08 to play. The boisterous crowd erupted in loud cheers, as Everett Martin went to the line for the Eagles. Lincoln pumped in another 20 points in the final frame to win by 15.
Scoring for the Eagles were Feltis 19, Brandon Reilly 16, Wajer 12, McLain 9, Pat Mullin 6, and Martin 6. Scoring for the Bears were Sam Poulin 18, David Clough 17, Jack Kennedy 11, Harry Lanphear 4 and Eben Ballard 3. Maranacook played without their 6’8″ senior Ben Johnson, who sat out with an ankle injury.
