Lincoln future freshmen won the annual Lincoln Academy Boys’ Invitational Basketball Tournament, held Feb. 23-24. Lincoln also won the 3-point shootout competition with AJ Oliver, Austin Dodge and Spencer Alden out shooting Georges Valley 30-29 in the finals of the 3-point competition.
Scoring for Boothbay were Arsenault 10, Jacob Ripley 9, Bradley Dummond 8, Jason Maddocks 7, Andrew Hallinan 4 and Ben Scully 4. Scoring for Georges Valley were Ferguson 16, Philip Atwood 9, Jarrod Leonardi 7, Nick Judge 3, Sawyer Pilsbury 2 and Eli Thorbjornson 1.
Scoring for the Bucs were Ferguson 26, Atwood 13, Judge 5, Walker Ranney 5, Ben Caron 4, Leonardi 3, Caleb Jacob 2, Pilsbury 2, Justin Robinson 2 and Jim Strong 1. Scoring for Medomak were Mazarec 27, Michael Wadsworth 7, Little 6, Hunter Baughman 2, Lee 2 and Farrar 2.
Alden stole the ball and scored with 1:23 to go to give the Eagles a four-point lead. Shawn Simmons stole the ball under his own basket and scored to cut the lead to two for Boothbay. Oliver went inside on a Matel feed then scored one at the line for a three-point play to put Lincoln up by five. Boothbay’s Hallinan hit a shot to make it a one possession game with 38 seconds to go. Alden was sent to the line where he made both shots, and Oliver was sent to the line twice, and made three of four to spoil the Seahawks’ chances of a comeback bid.
Scoring for Lincoln were Oliver 27, Matel 18, Alden 6, Miller 3, Cheney 3, Cummings 2, Matt Bolster 2 and Genthner 2. Scoring for Boothbay were Hallinan 17, Maddocks 14, Jared Spofford 9, Ripley 6, Scully 4, Simmons 4, Drummond 2, and Jack Hasch 2.
