Lincoln County Little League baseball All-Stars defeated Oceanside 2-0 in their District 2 opening game on July 5 in Rockland. Myles Wotton (4I,5K,1B,3H) and Cody Cleaveland (2I,5K,0B,1H) combined in the shut-out win. Alex Bartlett took the loss for Oceanside (4I,8K,1HP,4H,2R) and Connor Calderwood closed out the final two innings (4K,2H).
Micah Tomasello hit a lead off single in the top of the first inning, went to second on a throwing error, to third on a Cedar Canning ground out and scored on a passed ball. Lincoln added a run in the fourth inning when Wotton reached on a dropped third strike and pinch runner Lucas Houghton moved over on a bunt single to Jake Masters and single to Spencer Gamage and scored on an error.
Hitting for Lincoln were Cleaveland with two singles, Nick Prior a double, and Tomasello, Masters, and Gamage a single each. Hitting for Oceanside were Calderwood with a double and single, Daniel Butler a double, and Rhys Jones a single.
Lincoln County will play Five Town on July 9 at 2 p.m. in Rockland.
