Lincoln County American Legions got off to a roaring start with three straight wins, but dropped their last three games this past week to even up their record at 3-3.
Lincoln scored a run in the 1st when Wentworth walked and scored on an Everett Martin single. They added a run in the 5th on a solo homerun to Merritt Wotton and one in the 7th on a solo blast to Ben McLain.
Lincoln out hit Augusta 9-3, but left eight base runners stranded.
Hitting for Lincoln were Wotton with a homerun and single, Brandon Reilly 2 singles, Ben McLain a homerun, and Jason Weatherbee, Wentworth, Dalton Leeman and Joey Hersom a single each. Hitting for Augusta were Colin McKee, Cory Lapierre and Jason Burns with a single each.
Tim Smith pitched a 2-hitter in the win. Reilly hit a homerun and Jeff Lamb a single for Lincoln. Hitting for Franklin were Jake Bessey and Trent Rosenburg with 2 singles each, Craig Marshall a homerun and Andrew Pratt, Smith and Eli Caper a single each.
Reilly took the loss (4I, 6K, 5B, 1HP, 4H, 8R) and Weatherbee pitched in relief (3I, 4B, 4K, 2H, 0R). Jim Neal collected the win.
Ben McLain put Lincoln on the boards in the 1st inning on a Reilly ground out. Martin scored a run for Lincoln in the 2nd after drawing a walk. They added two runs in the 5th on singles to Ben McLain and Lamb and an error put in play by Leeman. Lincoln plated two runs in the 6th. Chauncey Devin and Martin singled, Andy Bartlett laid down a sacrifice bunt to set up a two-run single to Ben McLain.
Hitting for Lincoln were Ben McLain with 3 singles, Martin 2, and Lamb, Reilly, Weatherbee, Leeman and Devin with one each. Hitting for Franklin were Smith and Caper with a homerun each, and Marshall, Dylan Ving, Hank Poulin and Bessey a single each.
