Lincoln Girls Drop Four Straight

Lincoln girls stayed with Mt. View in first half action, leading 15-14 at the half. The Mustangs controlled action in the second, and the Eagles shooting hands went cold for a 42-25 loss in Thorndike. Mt.View won the third period 10-6 and the fourth 18-4.

The Raiders held a 31-19 advantage on the boards, although both teams had 13 rebounds in the second half. Lincoln only turned the ball over five times in the first half, while forcing 12 from Winslow. Both teams had 11 turnovers in the second half.

A couple of big shots early in the fourth quarter from Winchenbach, Alley and Budrow helped the Eagles keep the game close. Winslow made four of 10 foul shots down the stretch, but Lincoln was unable to capitalize. Under stifling Raider defense, the Eagles did not score from the floor in the final four minutes of play.

Scoring for Lincoln were K. Jones 11 (4R,3S,6A), Winchenbach 9 (6R,2S), Lincoln 7, Becca Rice 3 (2A), M. Jones 2 (4R,2A), and Budrow 2 (2R,4S). It was a three-point game with 11 seconds to go, but Lincoln was hit by a foul, sending the Raiders to the line.

Oak Hill shot 34 free throws in the game (making 21) to the Eagles 15, including a 14-5 advantage in the final frame.

“That should never happen. I have never been so angry at officials,” coach Sam Farrell said of the lopsided calls. A frustrated Farrell said Lincoln fans were told to quiet down, while Oak Hill fans were left un-tethered to taunt him and his players.

The Raiders led 11-9 at the quarter, 34-27 at the half and 43-32 at the end of three, before rallying in the 4th quarter to pull within a basket.

Scoring for the Eagles were Winchenbach 18, K. Jones 14 (9R,4A,5S,4-3’s), M. Jones 9, Rice 5, Sarah Alley 4 (three offensive rebounds), Lincoln 2, and Budrow 2.

Scoring for Oak Hill were Maggie Sabine 30 (13 for 15 at the line), Alex Donald 15, Darby Beauleu 6, Goulet 3, Carrie Hayden 2, Becca Levoytay 2, and Devan Adar 2.
