Lincoln Academy girls’ soccer team wrapped up their KVAC season with four straight wins. The Lady Eagles handed Oak Hill a 2-1 loss Oct. 15 in their finale under the lights in Newcastle. Sara Komorowski scored both goals for Lincoln.
Komorowski gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead six minutes into the game when she booted the ball out of Raider keeper (former LA teammate) Alex Donald’s hands and into the back of the net. The Raiders dominated the next 20 minutes, socking the ball deep in the Eagles’ defensive end. Emma Lazarri in net, back up by solid defense from Kelsea Miller, Kari Jones and Brianna Carroll, kept the Raiders at bay. Oak Hill’s Rebecca Roberts tied the score with 17 minutes to play on a direct kick that hit the cross bar and curled in at the left post.
Lincoln picked up their offensive intensity, with shots from Chloe Maxmin and Haley Peavey. Komorowski scored the game winner with 1:10 to go in the half on a direct kick just outside the box, called when Peavey was tripped up from behind.
Lincoln owned the second half, out shooting the Raiders 11-1. Samantha Rossignol broke free for Oak Hill with nine minutes to play, but was stopped near the goal line by Katherine Bolster. Jones and Miller also had key defensive stops in the half.
Lincoln out shot Oak Hill 22-12. Lazarri made eight saves for the Eagles, and Donald 16 for the Raiders.
Lincoln finishes the season with a 6-6-2 record.
