Lincoln Academy’s wrestling team placed fourth at the Western Maine Class B Regionals, held in Wells on Saturday.
Eleven out of 12 wrestlers qualified for the State Class B championships to be held at the Augusta Civic Center on Sat., Feb. 7. A 12th wrestler, Nikki Leeman will go as an alternate.
Dustin Creamer placed second, Brendan Mammina, Derek Juchnik, Tucker Phinney, Alex Benner, Jordan Knott, Jesse Morkeski, and Brian Stebner placed third, and Harley Benner, Dylan York and Ryan Wahle) placed fourth.
Mt. Valley won the West B championship with 167 points, followed by Oak Hill 166, Wells 144, Lincoln 114, Fryeburg 84, and York 78.
Nikki Leeman (103) was pinned by Frost (FA) in 2:35, and by Goyetchey (YHS) in 4:25.
Harley Benner (112) drew a bye, was pinned by Worthley (Mt.V) in 3:34, and lost a 4-0 decision to Hlister (OH) in the consolation finals for fourth place.
Brendan Mammina (119) was pinned by Ross (Mt.V) and pinned Freitag (YHS) in 3:58 in the consolation finals for third place.
Derek Juchnik (135) was pinned by Matthews (Mt.V) in 32 seconds, beat Solimine (YHS) by 5-0 decision and beat Bacchiocchi (FA) by 4-2 decision in the consolation finals for third place.
Dylan York (140) was pinned by Thomton (Mt.V) in 2:30, won by pin over Stone (OH) in 1:44 and was pinned by Goyetche (YHS) in 2:55 to take fourth.
Tucker Phinney (145) was pinned by Emery (FA) in 4:41, beat Turcotte (OH) by 7-5 decision, and won by injury default over Emery to take third.
Ryan Wahle (152) pinned Bowling (FA) in 1:23, was pinned by Duka (Mt.V) in 4:16, pinned Rickerich (YHS) in 1:37 and lost a 6-3 decision to Burgess (Wel) in the consolation finals to take fourth.
Alex Benner (160) pinned Schmitt (Wel) in 26 seconds, was pinned by Hecht (YHS) in 3:46, pinned David (MtV) in 1:48 and pinned Sundgren (FA) in 3:42 for third place.
Jordan Knott (171) was pinned by Tibbetts (OH) in 2:55, and beat Cogley (Mt.V) by 15-8 decision for third place.
Jesse Morkeski (189) pinned Calnan (YHS) in 3:46, lost a 12-11 decision to Durland (Mt.V), pinned Mullins (Wel) in 39 seconds and pinned Calnan in 1:21 for third place.
Dustin Creamer (215) pinned St.Denis (YHS) in 1:15, and pinned Glover (Mt.V) in 3:53 to advance to the championship match. Creamer was pinned by Hathorne (OH) in 2:48 for second place.
Brian Stebner (285) was pinned by Sawin (FA) in 1:15, and drew a bye to the consolation finals, where he took third. There were only three wrestlers in the weight class.
Two Boothbay independent wrestlers, training with Lincoln Academy, qualified for the State Class C wrestling championships.
Jake Garrett (152) and Spencer Myshrall (119) both placed third for the Seahawks at the Western Maine Class C Regionals.
