Several local gymnasts competed this past weekend at the state YMCA championships in Bangor. The girls compete with the Waterville YMCA, which won all level titles.
Winning state all-around titles were Abby Harrington, Kadence Rogers, and Maddy Russ. Winning state event titles were Harrington, Rogers, and Reed Gulden.
Abby Harrington, level 3, age 7, of Nobleboro, was crowned state all-around champion with a score of 35.152. She won the bars (8.85) and vault (9.25) and took second on the bars (8.8) and beam (8.325).
Eliza Wood Orff, level 3, age 10, of Jefferson, came in seventh all-around with a score of 33.875. She placed fourth on vault (9.125) and scored 7.72 on bars, 8.5 on beam, and 8.52 on floor.
Kadence Rogers, level 4, age 10, of Nobleboro, took first all-around with a score of 36.525. She won the floor exercise (9.225) and vault (9.0) and placed second on bars (9.125) and beam (9.175).
Maddy Russ, level 8, age 12, of Damariscotta, placed first all-around with a score of 36.575. She placed second in all four events: the vault (8.85), bars (9.375), beam (9.25), and floor (9.15).
Reed Gulden, level 8, age 12, of Walpole, placed second all-around. Gulden won the state bars title with a 9.04. She scored 8.1 on vault, 8.05 on beam, and 9.225 on floor.
Katie Colomb, excel platinum, age 16, of Newcastle, came in second all-around with a score of 35.525. She placed fourth on vault (8.55), second on bars (8.95), third on beam (8.775), and third on floor (9.25).
The girls will compete at YMCA regionals on May 12-14 at Kents Hill in Readfield.
