Wiscasset and Boothbay athletes brought home seven gold medals, and a large collection of ribbons at the Mt.Valley Conference track and field championships held in drizzle and rain in Lisbon on May 25.
Wiscasset’s Brandon Goud picked up double gold in the distance events, winning the mile in 4:46 and the 3200 in 10:17. Goud out kicked Mt.Abram’s Xavier Romanoski in the final 100 yards to win the mile in dramatic fashion.
Boothbay’s Draco Peaslee won the 200 in 22.34, and Blake Erhard won the 800 in 2:12.
On the girls side, Wiscasset’s 4×100 relay won the league title in 53.67 with Gabby Chapman, Vanessa Dunn, Grace Webber and Ayanna Stover running a leg. Stover took home gold in the triple jump (32’3”) and Grace Webber first in the long jump (15’2”). Boothbay’s Angie Perkins won the high jump with a leap of five feet.
Lisbon boys won with 119 points, followed by Hall-Dale 105, Mt.Valley 85, Boothbay 77, Dirigo 55, Wiscasset 47, Telstar 39, Monmouth 35, Winthrop 30, Mt.Abram 29, Madison 12, Carrabec 12 and Richmond 4.
Matthew Chapman placed second in the 300 hurdles in 43.39 for the Wolverines. Gage Varian took fifth in the 3200 in 11:20. Max Sampson placed in two jumping events, taking sixth in the triple jump (37′) and seventh in the long jump (19′).
Wiscasset placed fifth in all three relays, the 4×400 in 4:01 with Caleb Gabriele, Sam Strozier, Goud and Chapman; the 4×100 in 48.75 with Chapman, Sampson, Strozier and Chris Loyola; and the 4×800 in 9:11 with Gabriele, Strozier, Aidan Carlson and Goud.
Peaslee took second in the 100 in 11:49 for Boothbay. Erhard placed third in the 1600 in 4:54. Jay Hasch took second in the high jump (6′) and sixth in the javelin (126′). Kyle Ames placed fifth in the 800 in 2:17. Will Perkins took sixth in two events, the 3200 in 11:42 and high jump (5’4”). Boothbay placed second in the 4×400 relay in 3:52 with Ames, Erhard, Peaslee and Brandon Andrews; and second in the 4×800 in 9:00 with Ames, Erhard, Gaughan and Will Perkins.

Monmouth girls won the MVC team title, followed by Lisbon 99, Winthrop 73, Wiscasset 62, Boothbay 46, Telstar 44, Mt.Valley 40, Hall-Dale 33, Richmond 28, Mt.Abram 27, Dirigo 11 and Madison 5.
Wiscasset’s Stover placed in three events, winning the triple jump, taking second in the 100 hurdles in 16.0 and fourth in the 300 hurdles in 53.79. Webber won the long jump and took second in the 200 in 27.42, coming .3 seconds from breaking the school record. Gabby Chapman placed ffith in the 400 in 1:06. Vanessa Dunn took fifth in the 300 hurdles in 54.4.
Wiscasset girls placed fourth in the 4×400 relay in 4:40 with Chapman, Keara Hunter, Dunn and Webber.
Loren Genrich placed in three events for Boothbay, taking second in the long jump (15’1”), fifth in the 3200 in 14:32, and 7th in the triple jump (29’8”). Chloe Arsenault took third in the triple jump (31’10”) and seventh in javelin (81’4”). Reagan Cola was third in the 400 in 1:05 and Hannah Cola was fourth in 1:06. H. Cola was seventh in the 200 in 29.04. Olivia Paolillo took seventh in the 100 hurdles in 18.88.
Boothbay girls placed fourth in the 4×100 relay in 56.17 with R. Cola, H. Cola, Paolillo, and Sydney Mercier, and fifth in the 4×400 in 5:06 with the same four girls.
