Two Medomak Valley wrestlers, Ben Lufkin (112) and Steven Genthner (145) placed fourth in the combined Class A and Class B KVAC wrestling championships, held at Cony High School in Augusta on Saturday.
Lincoln Academy placed 13th with 47 points and Medomak 14th with 37 points.
Belfast won overall with 165.5 points, and Skowhegan was second overall and first for Class A. Camden was third with 140 points, Morse 128, Mt. Ararat 114.5 and Erskine seventh with 102. Andrew Currier of Mt. Blue was named Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament, and Shawn Totman of Cony was named Coach of the Year.
Nikki Leeman (LA-103) drew a bye, was pinned by Golek (Mt. A) in 3:28, beat Mosher (Win) by 12-9 decision and lost to Kothman (EA) by 12-0 major decision.
Ben Lufkin (MV-112) pinned Blake (Mt. A) in 32 seconds, was pinned by York (EA) in 57 seconds, pinned Marcote (Mt. B) in 23 seconds, pinned Pelletier (Cony) in 37 seconds and beat Hurtado (Wat) by 12-6 decision to advance to the consolation finals.
Lufkin met up with York again in the finals and lost by 1-0 decision to take fourth. Harley Benner (LA-112) pinned Vigue (Win) in 3:42, was pinned by Brackett (Mor) in 16 seconds, won by pin over Cox (Mt. V) in 39 seconds and was eliminated by Collins (Sko) by pin in 49 seconds.
Brendan Mammina (LA 119) was pinned by Pooler (EA) in 1:44, won by pin over DeRose (Win) in 2:14, pinned Cummings (Sko) in 4:29, and was eliminated by Brackett (Mor) by 10-4 decision. Cheyenne Augustine (MV-119) was pinned by Perry (Bre) in 1:04, and was eliminated by Bragg (CH) by pin in 4:04.
Zach Gillespie (MV-130) was pinned by Robbins (Bel) in 20 seconds, drew a bye and was eliminated by Deschaine (OH) by pin in 2:49.
Taylor Olsen (MV)135) was pinned by Itthipalakorn (Co) in 3:56, pinned Galarneau (OH) in 21 seconds, and was eliminated by Hutchins (Nok) by fall in 28 seconds. Dylan York (LA-140) was pinned by Heikkila (EA) in 55 seconds, and by Johnson (Bre) in 56 seconds.
Adam Lynch (MV-140) was pinned by Simpkins (CH) in 22 seconds, won by pin over Loschiavo (Mor) in 4:37, and was eliminated by pin by Fitzjuris (Bel) in 4:27.
Steven Genthner (MV-145) drew a bye in the first round, pinned Iams (Mt. B) in 58 seconds, beat Leeman by injury default, and was pinned by Powers (CH) in 4:04 in the consolation finals for fourth place.
Tucker Phinney (LA-145) was pinned by Ouellet (MCI) in 2:57, drew a bye and was eliminated by Iams (Mt. B) by pin in 1:52. Ryan Wahle (LA-152) pinned McDougal (Mor) in 2:14, was pinned by Sylvain (Sko) in 4:15, and by Hamm (OH) in 4:28. Elpidio Lima (MV-152) was pinned by Sylvain in 1:56 and by McDougal in 3:01.
Alex Benner (LA-160) pinned Pierce (EA) in 3:37, was pinned by Whiter (Sko) in 1:56, pinned Michaud (Gar) in 2:13, beat Weiss (CH) by 14-13 decision and was eliminated by Goewey (MCI) by 7-4 decision.
Jordan Knott (LA-171) pinned Prophete (Nok) in 3:23, was pinned by Chandler (Mt. A) in 1:13, pinned Bouchard (Bre) in 16 seconds and was eliminated Grant (Sko) by pin in 52 seconds. Jonathan Storer (MV-171) was pinned by Russell (Mor) in 1:07, pinned Hodgkin (MtB) in 37 seconds, and was eliminated by pin by Grant in 3 minutes.
