Perfect weather prevailed for the Grand Army Hill 5K held in conjunction with Whitefield Day on Aug. 14. Over 50 runners met the challenge of the big hill that gave the race its name. Will Lundquist (17) won the race in 18:07, beating out nearest competitor John Lyons, 40, by 26 seconds. Erin Chase, 41, was the first female finisher in a time of 25:25, beating out 12-year-old Allie Gorrill by over a minute.
Age group winners were Allie Gorrill (14 & under), Ales Smith (15-19), Alfie Sundqvist (20-29), Tighe Colfer, (30-39), John Lyons (40-49), Blane Fenderson (50-59) and Charles Sawyer (60 & up).
