Lincoln Academy senior Seward Matel placed fourth in the Maine Junior Amateur Championship held at Val Halla Golf Club.
Matel had a two-day score of 152 (79 and 73). As a result of his solid tournament play this summer combined with his fourth place finish, Matel has been invited to participate as part of the six-member Maine team in the New England Junior Amateur competition taking place at Connecticut National Golf Club on Aug. 15-16.
The Maine team will compete against the top six junior amateur golfers from the five other New England states in the 54-hole event.
