Medomak 7 – Oceanside 3
Medomak 10&11 Little League all-stars defeated Oceanside 7-3 on Saturday in District 2 playoff action in Rockland. Ethan Reed collected the win in four innings of work (2B,4H,2K,2R).
Noah Crosby (0B,1H,3K,0R), and Zach Winpenny (0B,1H,3K,1R) pitched one inning each in relief. Logan Putansu (5R,8K,3H,1B) took the loss in four innings of work. Will Eaton (2I,2R,5K,3H,0B) closed out the game.
Medomak plated two runs in the top of the first inning. Parker Morrison hit a lead off double and scored on an inside the park homerun to Winpenny.
Oceanside got a run back in the home half of the first when Finn Lynch walked and scored on a Putansu single.
Medomak scored two in the third. Addison Mellar singled and scored when Winpenny reached on an error. Winpenny scored when Adian Starr reached on an error. They added a run in the fourth on a walk to Jake Bickmore and RBI fielder’s choice to Morrison; and one in the fifth on a double to Winpenny and RBI ground out to Reed.
Oceanside scored a run in the bottom of the fifth when Lynch singled and stole around the horn, scoring on a passed ball.
Medomak added a run in the sixth when Bickmore hit a lead off double and scored on a passed ball. Oceanside’s rally fell short in the bottom of the inning with one run. Will Eaton reached on an error and scored on a Tyler Sukeforth double.
Hitting for Medomak were Winpenny with a homerun and double, Morrison a double, and Mellar and Adam Berry a single each. Hitting for Oceanside were Hunter Moore with a double and single, Sukeforth a double, and Putansu, Eaton, and Lynch a single each.
Medomak 4 – Waldo 0
Medomak 10&11 Little League all-stars defeated Waldo 4-0 on Sunday to advance to Friday’s District 2 Little League championship game (5:30 p.m. Friday, July 18 at Gordon Field, Rockland).
Jake Bickmore (2I,2K,4B), Adam Berry (3I,5K,1B), and Noah Crosby (1I,2K,1B) combined on Medomak’s mound in the shutout win.
Medomak took a 1-0 lead in the first when Parker Morrison reached on a dropped third strike and sped around the horn and scored on a throwing error on the play. Morrison escaped a pickle between third and home to score. Medomak added a run in the fourth when Ethan Reed singled and scored on a passed ball, and scored two runs in the sixth.
Reed singled, moved over on a Colvin Standring double and scored on passed ball, and Standring scored on an Aidan Starr single.
Hitting for Medomak were Reed with two singles, Standring a double, and Starr and Bickmore a single each. Hitting for Waldo were Gave Neiland and Josh Minor with a single each.
