Medomak Valley 10&11 Little League baseball all-stars defeated Oceanside 11-1 Saturday night to win the District 2 championship. Oceanside won the first game in the best of three series.
Medomak came back and won the next two to advance to the state championships to be held in Millinocket. This is the first Medomak Valley Little League all-star team to make the state tournament.
Medomak will play July 25 at noon, July 26 at 5 p.m., and July 27 at 2:30 p.m., in pool play. The top four teams in pool play advance to the next round.
Ethan Reed went the distance in the four inning mercy ruling win (7K,1R,0B,3H).
Medomak jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Zach Winpenny hit a lead-off single. Garrett Hutchins and Jake Bickmore walked to load up the bases for an RBI single to Reed, RBI fielder’s choice to Anthony York and RBI walk to Ian Doughty.
Oceanside scored their lone run in the top of the second when Alex Bartlett singled, went to second on a passed ball, to third on a Duncan Oakes sacrifice and scored on a wild pitch.
Medomak added two runs in the third. Evan Mariano hit a one out double and scored on a Doughty single. Doughty came all the way around on throwing errors to give Medomak a 5-1 lead.
Medomak put the game away early with a six run fourth inning.
Garrett Hutchins hit a leadoff double, stole third and scored on a Bickmore single. Reed hit a double off the center field fence scoring Bickmore. Aidan Starr drove in Reed when he reached on an error. York reached on fielder’s choice, to set up a two run error off the bat of Isaiah Staples. Zeke Hesseltine followed with an RBI single.

Hitting for Medomak were Hutchins and Reed with a double and single each, Bickmore two
singles, Mariano a double and Winpenny, Doughty, and Hesseltine a single each.
Hitting for Oceanside were Hunter Norton, Bartlett, and Brady Wadsworth with a single each.
Pitching for Oceanside were Elliot Lucier (3I,5R,4B,1HP,5H,5K), Austin Chilles (1/3I,6R,4H,0K,0B), and Liam O’Neil (2/3I,0R,2K,1H,0R).

Medomak Valley 10&11 Little League baseball all-stars defeated Oceanside 16-6 to force a second game for the District 2 championship. Ethan Reed collected the win and Garrett Hutchins the save, and Conner Calderwood took the loss.
Medomak jumped out to a 8-1 lead after three innings, including scoring five runs in the third led by hits from Garrett Hutchins, Aidan Starr, and Evan Mariano. Jake Bickmore hit a two run double in the fifth and made it home on throwing errors.
Reed and Aidan Starr had big hits in Medomak’s six run fifth inning. Reed added an RBI triple in the sixth.
Hitting for Medomak, Zach Winpenny had three singles, Hutchins, Starr, and Marino a double and single each, Bickmore, and Anthony York two singles each, Reed a double, and Zeke Hesseltine a single.
Hitting for Oceanside were Hunter Norton two singles, Alex Bartlett a triple, and Derik Jameson and Liam O’Neal a single each.
