Maranacook (67) placed five scoring runners in the top 20 to beat out second place Medomak Valley (104) and third place Lincoln Academy (105) in the KVAC cross country championships, held at Cony High School Oct. 15.
Waterville was fourth with 106, 5. Winslow 120, 6. Gardiner 157, 7. MCI 166, 8. Camden 174, Belfast 180, 10. Morse 230, and 11. Leavitt 259.
Nickolas Shuckrow of Winslow won the Class B KVAC title in 18:02.
The Panthers were led by Mason Vermilion in fifth place with a time of 19:05. Completing the scoring five were 17. Ivan Johnson, 20:00; 19. Nick Anderson, 20:07; 29. Gavin Felch, and 38. Alexander Casas, 21:04. Also running for Medomak were 60. Lance Parker, 22:22; and 65.Taylor Packard, 22:49.
Will Hadden led the Eagles to third place with a fourth place finish in 18:59. Rounding out Lincoln Academy’s scoring five were 8. Nick Smelcer, 19:31; 22. Alex Tomasello, 20:14; 34. Julian Frink, 20:51; 41. Josh Richards, 21:11. Also running for the Eagles were 59, Nathan Osborne, 22:16; and 63. Tim Wells, 22:47.
Lincoln Academy had just one runner competing, Teiga Martin, who placed 21st in a time of 23:38.
Heidi Harris was the lead runner for Medomak Valley, taking 29th place in 24:46. Also competing for the Lady Panthers were 39. Jordan Hopkins, 26:08; 43. Abbie Vail, 26:15; 45. Jocelyn Thames, 26:24; 46. Alyssa Griggs, 26:25; 49. Shannon Staples, 27:11; and 50. Kelsie Grady, 27:12.
In the JV boys’ race, Medomak runners placed: 47. Kyle Baubonis, 22:31; 48. Ian Rixon, 22:39; 81. Brendan O’Donnell, 24:18; and 85. Alex Kenniston, 24:41.
Lincoln Academy finished 12th out of 12 teams. Running for the Eagles were 51. Liam Anderson, 22:45; 60. Kevin Sandefur, 23:02; 80. Sal Azzaretti, 24:18; 89. Seth Chatterton, 24:54; 105. Mat Poland, 26:10; and 107. Daniel Mayer, 26:21.
